From Foundation to New Stewardship
Prosper Lebastard’s plan began to take shape in Bathurst in 1909. A building intended for novices and seminarians later housed students from Caraquet after the 1915 fire. Despite another fire in 1917, the work continued. Charles Lebrun decided to establish the college permanently; it opened in September 1921. Following reforms in the 1960s, it became affiliated with the Université de Moncton and was transferred to a civil corporation in 1972.
