A work of formation
A 30,000-franc donation from Father Théophile Ory made it possible to establish the Eudist Fathers’ Apostolic School. Seven young men were welcomed to the Sainte-Marie rectory in September 1894. The school prepared those considering entry into the Congregation of Jesus and Mary. After a first stay in Bathurst in 1916, a fire at the temporary college brought them back to Church Point in 1917. The rectory burned on September 20, 1920; the study room and dormitory moved into the covered rink at Sainte-Anne College, then to an annex of the convent. The community settled permanently in Bathurst in 1921 and at the Blessed John Eudes House in 1923.
